Image Transfer Project Workshops - 3 hours. Focus on one simple transfer technique and make a head-turning piece of wearable art. Painted Ladies use vintage black-and-white images, a silk ribbon embroidery shortcut, and simple beading. Altered Ego Dollfaces are ideal for, well, dolls as well as jewelry. Hoosier Daddies, Vintage Vamps, Babe Dumplings, WACky Women, and Falling Leaves are other options. These workshops all feature the opportunity to interpret the images in your own way to create a piece that is as unique as you are.
Fiber 400: A Creativity Cram Session-- 4-8 hours. This fast-paced workshop will help you harness the brilliant ideas and energy you get at a conference, meld them with your cumulative experience as a fiber artist, and fire up your creativity incubator. You'll learn ways to help make sure you're paying attention when inspiration strikes, and a process for making self-critique positive and productive. This workshop is filled with practical tips, including how to transition from one project or series to the next, how to develop themes to explore, how to set realistic goals, and how to achieve them.
Sticky Fingers: Design Concepts for Everybody-- 1-2 days. As kids, we learned a lot from playing with paper, scissors and glue. Now give yourself permission to play again in this experiential approach to design. We'll take what we all already know about line, shape, form, texture, color and value, and about how we use pattern, scale, balance, contrast, emphasis and unity to provide clues to relationships. Through a series of games and exercises, you'll learn to better understand why we like what we like and how to make conscious design choices that meld observation and imagination. In addition to an improved visual fluency and greater confidence, you'll go home with a design journal jam-packed with ideas to explore on your own.
