Image Transfer Story Jewelry - 2-3 Days. Learn to transform photographs, drawings and even doodles into jewelry that starts conversations and celebrates our connections to people, places and ideas. In this workshop you'll learn a variety of techniques for transferring images to fabric. These transfers remain flexible and easy to stitch through, because it should be as much fun to make a piece as it is to wear it. You may also use common home office technology to print elements directly to fabric, and add 'fiber mojo' (simple fabric painting and printing techniques) to alter and improve them. Expect to learn several ways to assemble fabric jewelry, and how to develop your own beaded edging designs.
Photo Synthesis - 1-5 days. Use transfer dyes, heliographic printing, inkjet fabric and image transfers to "grow" fabric and surface design components from real leaves, photographs of leaves and other leafy elements. Most of one day is spent in hands-on exploration of techniques you can use to create leafy patterns and motifs on fabric. With additional time, students explore ways to layer, combine and embellish.
Image Transfers: Extreme Sampling - 1-2 days. In this fast-paced hands-on workshop you'll learn to transfer photographs and other images to silk, cotton, leather, UltrasuedeÔ and Lacy's Stiff StuffÒ. You'll leave with a large collection of samples, a valuable reference handbook, a clearer idea about which methods will meet your particular needs, and experience with a variety of products.
Fiber Mojo --1-2 days. This is another fast-paced Extreme Sampling workshop. Learn quick, simple ways to alter, embellish, remodel, recycle and repurpose fabrics, threads, ribbon and other notions. You'll start by sampling a variety of surface design media, which may include inks, pigment dyes, transfer dyes and different types of textile paints. As time allows you will design and print with original stamps, learn some image transfer methods, make simple tools for adding pattern and visual texture, and explore layering concepts that mix and remix elements.
Inkjet Fabric - 1-2 days. Learn to create unique fabrics for fiber art, jewelry and beadwork using common home office equipment. Make 'voodoo applique,' 'slide show' collages and copy bed arrangements to print on inkjet cotton and silk. Sample different ways to add shadows and visual texture, unify elements, and shift colors. Sample ways to use fusibles, stabilizers, and surface design media with inkjet fabrics.
