Netting With Shuttle & Gauge--1-3 days
Netting is a skill so old it appears in ancient mythologies, and it survives because it is so strong and so useful. This knotted form of looping creates such a stable structure that it will not unravel even when cut. This workshop will focus on netted string bags, which are ideal for groceries, books, projects, holding fleece in the dyepot, and many other uses. Learn to take up a grommet base and work diamond-mesh netting in the round with a collecting knot to complete each row. As time allows, you may make a small mesh carrier for your water bottle or thermos, then begin a second project like a string shopping bag or a shaped sack to sew to a hoop-style fishing net. With additional time you may learn to start flat items like scarves and hammocks.
